They are both "works in progress".  Wanted you to see how rough and messy I work!  Just working in shapes and volumes and rubbing across to "hide the underdrawing". In a nutshell, they outline a simple way to break up the face by establishing 3 landmarks (eyeline, noseline, and mouthline).  My "sliding" these markers across the face and spacing them in varying positions, you can achieve starting points for a wide variety of characters.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, you play with volumes of facial elements.  Remember, cartoons are exaggerations of life, thus they exaggerate forms, volumes, scale, dimension, etc.  Don't be afraid to push your volumes. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, try and give dimension to your heads by turning them 3/4.  Here, your features can push out of the face to establish well-defined silhouettes.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, flair your lines, play them across the face with motion.  More notes explaining in detail later.
